“Come Share Our Heritage”
A three day celebration of our Anglo-Celtic
music and dance traditions. In February 2008, four very talented musicians and friends from Adelaide went to the Frances Folk Gathering. After dominating the individual competitions, this quartet won the Coopers Best Band Award, beating seasoned bands and performers – all this after only two rehearsals! Realising they had discovered something special, the group decided to continue rehearsing and performing.
When they perform, Garida make an impact. As four exciting soloists, their synergy as a band is amazing! Garida's music is mostly in the traditional Celtic style, with occasional diversions into other cultures and they also write original material. With so much combined experience at such a young age, their sound is a unique mixture of youthful exuberance and musical sensitivity that shows maturity beyond their years. They unite the traditions of the past with the hopes of the future – Garida is a band not to be missed! Garida are: Jeri Foreman – fiddle Lucy Langham - flute Matthew Lykos – guitar, mandolin and voice Paddy Montgomery - bouzouki and mandolin. ![]() |
