Index > The Performer - BorderCelts and An Ghillie Mhor
The BORDER CELTS are a contemporary Step and Reel dance team that bring to the modern world and ancient form of dance from the Picts of the Highlands of Scotland, that dates back to the 5th century.
Described by 'PLINI the Younger' a Roman Historian of
the times as "a dance like training in order to battle"
these ritual dance steps and movements were performed at
times of celebrations and to honour the seasons.
Proud members of the Scottish Association the Celts wear
the "BLACK WATCH TARTAN" traditionally worn by the
Border Rogues and their motto is "ALLEGIANCE TO NONE".
Established in 1999, the Celts perform at a wide variety
of cultural events and fesitvals throughout the year and since 2006
feature 'an Ghille M'hor our Jacobite Broadsword dancers who perform the
next recorded form of dance in Scottish history. For more information or
