MATSUMOTO MONTZ music style is very unique. His music is great mixture of folk and bluegrass with the flavour of Japanese local music and the spice of Indian traditional. |

He started his music career as a professional musician in 1987 with
the legendary Japanese folk group "Takaishi Tomoya & The Natasha
Seven". But he left the group soon, and he went to South India to
study about traditional vocal and rhythm theory. After returning to
Kyoto, he formed his group with some musicians included a great
percussion player Robin Lloyd and a mandolin player Miyazaki
Katsuyuki.
He recorded his original songs with his group and released his first
CD in 1996. In 1997, he supported Peter Rowan's Okinawa Tour. He has
lived in Australia since 2002. He was awarded the first place in
Francis Folk Gathering Musicianship Contest and the Band Contest in
2003 and in 2004. His original song in Japanese language has
received high evaluation in Australia.
He released his second CD "Banjo Moon" in 2007.
